The temporary Purchasing Assistant is responsible for assisting the purchasing department with all clerical and administrative functions. The ideal candidate will have experience in a purchasing environment and the ability to process data, organize work, and utilize the purchasing software.
Track orders and ensure timely delivery
Update internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts)
Communicate via the phone with internal customers, vendors, suppliers, and sales team
Perform data entry functions daily into spread sheets
Contact vendors for missing invoices, credits, and pricing discrepancies.
Provide administrative support and aid to the purchasing department
Good understanding of supply chain procedures
Provides support for the day-to-day tasks of Buyers/Category Manager(s).
Interacts with suppliers to maintain pricing and delivering schedules.
Other responsibilities may also include updating vendor information, resolving invoicing and inventory discrepancies, item maintenance, and various purchasing tasks
Experience with purchasing is preferred, but not required
High school diploma or equivalent and one to two years experience with administrative duties in a purchasing department, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong clerical background
Ability to multitask with a good attention to detail
Solid organizational skills
Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite; Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel
Works well as a member of a group
The schedule for this position will be Monday-Friday, 8-5. Pay range is $15.00 - $17.00 per hour - depending on experience. Assignment is expected to last less than 90 days.
