Umpqua Bank Credit and Collateral Analyst in Tigard, Oregon
Works on complex residential mortgage loan requests of diverse scope where analysis of data requires an in-depth evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within broadly-defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results and solutions. Review and evaluate credit data for Residential Mortgage CAFE in order to decide and/or make recommendations for final loan approval, while ensuring minimal risk exposure, consistent with the Bank's credit quality guidelines and secondary market quality loans on Jumbo loan products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Expert knowledge of all residential lending programs offered by the Bank.
Responsible for evaluating portfolio, exception and complex mortgage loans in accordance with all Bank, Investor, Agency, and regulatory compliance guidelines. Actively review, analyze and assess mortgage loan packages or underwriter recommendations for approval, declination, counter-offer or restructure in accordance with all Bank policies, procedures, and philosophies. Responsible for underwriting of non-agency qualified residential mortgage loan requests, generally in excess of $1,000,000.
Analyzes financial data related to purchase money and refinances residential loan requests, including more complex commercial financial analysis of self-employed and private bank clients.
Ability to review appraisals from vendors for quality control purposes.
Presents facts and offers opinions/recommendations concerning applicant's credit worthiness using the loan origination system.
May recommend and/or approve credit requests within properly delegated authorities, exercise independent judgment when applying exception authority.
Participates in discussions with Home Lending Department and Private Bank Team Leaders and Mortgage Loan Officers (MLO) related to credit requests under consideration.
Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities -- knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES n/a
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent.
Must have completed accounting and credit training courses.
5-7 years of relevant residential credit analysis or commercial underwriting experience.
5 years of Appraisal Review experience.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong credit and credit quality skills including accounting, financial statement spreading, and cash flow analysis experience.
Advanced knowledge of credit policies, procedures, practices and documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the company to manage internal and external customer relationships.
Proficiency with personal computers and related software packages such as Word and Excel.
Ability to train and present to small and large audiences or has the interest in learning to train and present.
