PeaceHealth HIM Chart Corrections Analyst in Springfield, Oregon
PeaceHealth is seeking a HIM Chart Corrections Analyst for a 1.0 full time equivalent Non-Exempt position. This position will be working Day shift with shift durations of 8 Hours.

Maintains the integrity of the electronic healthcare record. Performs or facilitates the correction of incorrect clinical and non-clinical information throughout inpatient and outpatient settings by utilizing the Chart Correction Workspace in CareConnect. Works closely with end users and other departmental and TSP analysts, follows escalation processes for critical issues. Serves as HIM subject matter expert with knowledge of all clinical modules and financial modules, creating and instructing end users on how to correct errors and other data integrity issues. Supports the EHR Integrity Analysists in order to maintain the integrity of the Communicty Master Patient Index (CMPI) data in PeaceHealth electronic health systems.
Troubleshoots and triages chart correction requests entered by clinical and financial end users in CareConnect or other integrity errors. Makes correction or triages the error to appropriate analyst(s), end users, or TSP.
Resolves complex critical errors that have the potential to impact patient safety and continuity of care. Performs actions to mitigate risk and resolve error. Resolves chart corrections issues impacting patient care.
- Rates each reported error as a part of the triage process: Critical or simple in complexity: Impact on patient care; Impact on privacy.
Identifies patient identity discrepancies, determines, coordinates and executes appropriate steps to remediate discrepancies.
Develops and maintains communication with internal and external professional relationships. Communicates with end users, clinicians, ancillary health providers, and/or other operational or TSP analysts.
Performs root cause analysis and auditing on significant integrity incidents and communicates to departmental supervisors and managers as needed.
Validates each chart correction case prior to resolution to ensure erroneous data has been corrected, corrections have been made accurately and completely to support patient safety and continuity of care. Monitors the correction process and performs audits.
Works with team members, operational analysts, TSP and other leads to troubleshoot end user issues and assist in the identification of workflow issues where training and additional support may be necessary. Provides input to TSP, managers, and end-users to correct and to minimize data integrity issues.
Supports lead and manager to educate on policies and practices that improve data quality. Develops and maintains policies, procedures and training material.
Participates in system testing and implementation of software, makes modifications, implement upgrades, assists in the identification of software needs.
Performs other duties as assigned.
- Associates Degree in Computer Science, Health Information, Healthcare or related field required or a combination of education and experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job.
Minimum of 3 years’ in-depth experience with electronic health record systems.
Knowledge of Epic Identity and Chart Correction processes.
Knowledge of Epic and Centricity.
Familiar with system merge process.
Courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy/Physiology preferred.
Analytic skills courses and experience preferred.
Lean process improvement experience preferred.
Epic Certified in Identity preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively with clerical, technical, and managerial level staff.
Detail oriented and self-directed.
Analytical and computer skills.
Able to determine root cause for data integrity issues.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and display flexibility in a fast paced and changing work environment with multiple interruptions.
Ability to work extremely well and effectively with internal and external customers.
Knowledge and ability to use PC, windows.
Knowledge of general MS office programs, e.g. Excel, Access, Word.
