Camp Fire Columbia Resident Camp Leadership & Logistics Manager in Sandy, Oregon

Job Title: Leadership & Logistics Manager

Reports to: Resident Camp Director

Classification: Temporary, Seasonal

Compensation: Exempt; $70/day and includes room and board

Minimum age Requirement: 18 years old, 21+ years old preferred

Dates: June 8 - August 18

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for supervising camp logistics and teen leadership program staff in addition to planning, facilitating, and supporting camp from pre-camp training through the cessation of the camping session in coordination with the management team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with logistics team to oversee check-in & check-out process including prepping health form binders, check-in/out forms, assigning staff duties, etc.; organize communication with camp families, Camp Fire office, vendors and other stake holders; and schedule and set-up staff program scheduling meetings.

  • Support program goals and planning for both teen leadership units: Gears and Counselor-in-Training (i.e. field trip scheduling, lesson development).

  • Schedule and lead regular observation time, check-ins, and team meetings with direct reports. Provide written and verbal feedback to direct reports and support them in their professional growth.

  • Assist Camp Director and management team with planning and facilitation of pre-camp set-up and training, daily staff meetings, weekly clean-up, end-of-summer shut down, and other management tasks as needed.

Job Duties:

  • Display excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with coworkers, volunteers, families, and contractors; including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.

  • Assist Camp Director and management team with planning and facilitation of pre-camp set-up and training, daily staff meetings, weekly clean-up, end-of-summer shut down, and other management tasks as needed.

  • Supervise, evaluate, and provide support to logistics team and teen leadership staff.

  • Coordinate logistics team weekly tasks to support camp systems.

  • Coordinate with Program Manager and Camp Director on program supply requisition and ordering.

  • Occasional travel to Sandy, Gresham, and Portland for business and medical trips, as necessary.

  • Maintain staff performance record including evaluations, performance issue documentation, and other records as needed.

  • Complete program reports and communicate to management or admin staff as needed.

  • Support Camp Director and Human Resources monitor and complete staff hiring paperwork as needed.

  • Assist with individual, cabin, unit, and all camp activities as needed.

  • Learn, teach, and lead camp songs, games, and team-builders.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Expectations for All Camp Staff:

  • Abide and apply the personnel and program policies of the camp.

  • Ensure and maintain the cleanliness of camp facilities, equipment, and grounds including weekly and end-of-summer cleaning and pack-up.

  • Observe good health habits, including sufficient sleep, good hygiene, reasonable eating habits and cooperation with the Medical Staff and Camp Director in case of illness.

  • Maintain punctual, regular and predictable attendance.

  • Attend pre-camp training and regular on-site staff meetings throughout the summer

  • Work collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

  • Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.

  • Support the mission, purpose and leadership of Camp Fire and projects a positive image of Camp Fire.

  • Follow all safety guidelines including the completion of accident/incident reports as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises the Office Coordinator, CIT Coordinators, and Dining Hall Coordinator. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsibilities may include interviewing and hiring as needed.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Supervisory experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

This position requires a valid Oregon Food Handler’s card, First Aid & CPR certification and completion of Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse online training. http://campus.educadium.com/OCCD/course/category.php?id=3

Having a valid insurable Oregon Driver’s License is preferred but not required.

The employee must frequently move up to 25 pounds and occasionally move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to traverse varied terrain over the 60 acres of main camp, be stationary for prolonged periods, gather supplies from various heights and locations.
