Associate in Engineering 2 – Traffic Analyst

  • This position is represented by the Association of Engineering Employees of Oregon (AEE).

  • This is a limited duration appointment that is expected to end on or before October 1, 2020.Limited duration appointments are benefits eligible and have a designated maximum length of service.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform complex independent traffic engineering analysis to determine vehicular capacity and level-of-service for freeway interchanges, highway intersections, and various roadway sections in both urban and rural settings.

  • Analyze work zone staging plans for vehicular capacity and operational requirements.

  • Evaluate highway construction plans for allowable lane closure periods and other restrictions necessary to minimize impacts to the highway user.

  • Prepare engineering reports of traffic analysis results and make presentations as required.

  • Review traffic related reports prepared by other agencies or consultants.

  • Analyze traffic signal timing as it affects intersection capacity and level of service.

  • Conduct Traffic Control related Engineering Studies and prepare reports for STIP and other projects as necessary.

  • Occasional involvement in emotionally tense situations.

  • Work involves tight deadlines.

  • Occasional exposure to high-traffic areas.

  • Exposure to inclement weather during field work.

Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of and passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and one year of experience applying professional engineering theory, principles and methods.

Special Qualifications

  • Employee will be required to use a vehicle to conduct business; you must possess and maintain a current, valid driver license and acceptable driving record.
