Full Time Position includes excellent benefit package, PERS/OPSRP retirement and availability of deferred compensation retirement savings program.
This position performs complex accounting support to the activities of the Tax Division of the Management and Finance Department.
Essential job duties: Provides customer service to the public over the telephone and in person by providing information related to property taxes; answers inquiries, computes interest and discounts; gives pay-off information and searches records for information; receives and posts payments made via cash or check, issues receipts; completes daily cash sheet; prepares deposits, and prepares various reconciliation; monitors personal property and mobile home status to collect taxes; prepares warrants, and prepares payoff notices; develops and prepares computerized notices, letters and reports; trains temporary employees to process payments, purges documents according to archive guidelines; maintains and continually updates addresses and mortgage files; enters data into various computer systems (payments, foreclosures, bankruptcies, refunds, etc.); completes various forms. Requires regular and consistent attendance.
Marginal functions: Performs general office duties related to answering phones, typing, making copies, filing, and distributing mail.
TESTING: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of any required computer, typing, and/or written tests administered.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate's degree in accounting or related field and two years work related experience OR four years of accounting experience OR a satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training.
Banking experience with cash handling and teller proficiency preferred.
In addition to the above, applications will be further evaluated on the following: Considerable knowledge of tax regulations and procedures; knowledge of tax filing systems and account classifications; knowledge of standard office machines and practices; proficiency in keyboarding skills; ability to operate a calculator and to make arithmetic calculations of a moderately complex nature; ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and the public; works under the supervision of an administrative supervisor; skill in the use of modern office equipment that includes automated equipment and systems; ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms; provide training to employees relating to tax/accounting systems and procedures; prepare detailed tax, fiscal, and statistical records and reports; work independently or within a team unit; efficiently organize time to meet deadlines; use judgment and maintain confidentiality in dealing with employees and the public; courteously meet and deal effectively with the public, outside agencies and employees.
Work is performed in an office environment and is generally sedentary, requires bending, kneeling, lifting up to 15 pounds, pulling, pushing, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, hearing voice conversations, and keyboarding.
SCREENING & EVALUATION
