Pay Scale: $36.79 - $56.28

Shift: Full Time, 6:45am - 5:15pm

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Surgical Services Nursing Director and/or OR Nurse Manager, the Operating Room RN performs duties by applying professional nursing theory and principles, and utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care given to patients. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in providing patient care. This position requires on-call with a 30 minute response time.

Essential Duties:

  • Applies nursing process to direct patient care through assessment, analysis of collected data, development of a plan of care, and implementation and evaluation of effectiveness of nursing interventions/actions in relation to intended goal.

  • Performs in-depth assessment of patients and is able to correlate information to assist in planning for provision of needs for patient hand off to PACU RN.

  • Demonstrates airway management on patients of all ages.

  • Provides adequate information and instruction to the patient, family, and significant other.

  • Provides for an environment conducive to patient and staff safety.

  • Functions in a leadership position as assigned, to plan, direct and coordinate unit activities. Works with team members toward common goals, and provides a positive work environment.

  • Maintains knowledge of narcotic antagonists.

  • Promotes positive patient satisfaction.

  • Involves self in unit problem solving and is actively involved in unit Quality Improvement activity.

  • Prioritizes and organizes work activities to care for the complex patient-care assignments.



  • Current RN license issued by the State of Oregon required.

  • CNOR preferred.

  • Must have current BLS within 30 days of hire date and ACLS within 6 months of hire date.


  • One (1) year of experience within the last three (3) years in an acute care setting preferred.

  • Completion of an approved OR residency preferred.

  • Previous OR or invasive procedural experience preferred.

  • Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills in relating to public and peers.


  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

  • AORN Peri-Op 101 course required within six (6) months of hire, preference is given to candidates who have completed the course prior to hire.
