WorkSource Oregon WIC Training Coordinator (Training and Development Specialist 2) in PORTLAND, Oregon

We are recruiting for a WIC Training Coordinator to initiate, plan, develop and implement training and development initiatives. WIC is the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. This public health program is designed to improve health outcomes and influence lifetime nutrition and health behaviors in a targeted, at-risk population. Nutrition education is the cornerstone of the WIC Program. What will you do? As the WIC Training Coordinator, you will provide overall leadership and coordination of training activities provided by the state WIC office to assure compliance with federal and state regulations, protect program integrity, enhance program operations and support quality nutrition services. As the lead for the WIC training coordination team, you will facilitate planning, implementation, evaluation, and continual improvement of the program's overall training component for state WIC and contracted partners. You will work with WIC subject matter experts to design competency-based trainings using a variety of training delivery modalities including webinars, on-line education and classroom training and you will collaborate with other state program sections to develop education and training standards, guidelines and procedures. In addition, you will develop program policies and provide consultation and technical assistance to local WIC programs and promote and support the development of culturally competent programs, services and policies. What are we looking for? ' Five years of experience designing and coordinating public health related adult education courses or organizational development strategies. (NOTE: A bachelor's degree in education, adult education, public health education, or training and development or a related field may substitute for three years of experience.) 'Preference will be given to applicants with a bachelor's degree in education, adult education, public health education, or training and development and experience coordinating training programs for WIC or a related public health program. 'Knowledge of the WIC program federal and state guidelines and regulations. 'Experience providing leadership, training, support and consultation to training supervisors which includes coordinating training activities, overseeing new staff training, and developing education materials. 'Experience managing large and complicated projects such as training initiatives. 'Experience planning, developing, monitoring, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of curriculum and training programs to improve program quality, support the program mission and goals, and assure compliance with federal regulations and guidelines. 'Experience leading the development of program guidelines and processes to develop, review, and select quality and professional educational materials based on assessments identifying training needs. 'Experience coordinating training logistics such as assigning trainers, contracting speakers, reserving site accommodations, producing training materials and scheduling training sessions.
