VP Marketing – FlightGlobal – Portland

FlightGlobal are seeking a VP Marketing to lead a marketing team of 20 (with some of the 20 needing to be recruited in the first few months!). This role will be based in our buzzing Portland, Oregon office and the successful applicant will have a seat with the other Senior Leaders within FlightGlobal who are all tasked with the objective of delivering growth and building successful teams who can deliver to our customers.

The CMO will ultimately be responsible for developing and delivering a clear corporate and divisional marketing and communication strategy to drive brand awareness in each market segment. Reporting into the MD you will be an integral member of the Senior Management Team making a key strategic contribution at a high level to steer the divisional marketing strategy across all platforms.

We are seeking a candidate who has global marketing expertise as well as experience of working in the data and business intelligence field and ideally with aviation experience.

Job Purpose:

The role of the VP is to build revenue, relationships and reputation through a holistic understanding of the key markets, audiences and opportunities and build and lead an effective marketing function that drives commercial results and first rate customer experience.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities :

  • Establishes the vision, purpose and goals for the marketing and communications function in collaboration with key stakeholders

  • Defines the strategy for marketing – short and long term priorities, in line with business strategy

  • Defines the organization and resources needed to drive the marketing strategy

  • Promotes a strong customer focus and influences business strategy formulation and corporate investment decisions.

  • Establishes an annual marketing planning and budgeting processes that has strong alignment across the business and has cross functional integration with product and sales.

  • Develops the go to market framework with Product and Sales to set the direction for Portfolio marketers

  • Owns and defines the brand positioning and brand architecture

  • Makes recommendations for partnering that protects and enhances brand value

  • Understands and is an evangelist for the latest market technologies – ensures there is a roadmap in place to deliver new functionality

  • Monitors current and future competition and acts on this to position FG as differentiated in the marketplace vs the competition

  • Successfully manages acquisition/integration activities from a marketing perspective – ensures marketing has an early seat at the table

  • Establishes regional marketing teams and develops presence in target markets, even if virtual

  • Owns the voice of the customer

  • Stops activities that don’t contribute to revenue, reputation and relationship building.

  • Course corrects when needed aligned to internal business and external market changes

  • Inspires, coach and manage the global team to deliver the marketing goals

  • Leads the ongoing development and transformation of marketing to deliver the business strategy

  • Creates annual and quarterly objectives, KPIs and metrics that align with business goals and measure the impact and effectiveness of marketing

  • Delivers revenue-generating global marketing programs across different business models buying/selling processes
