Position Summary:

Huron Managed Services (HMS) is currently seeking a Performance Improvement (PI) Manager over Special Projects and Acquisitions to join Adventist Health’s Centralized Strategy & Services (CSS) team. The Manager will be a key player in significant revenue cycle initiatives including but not limited to evaluation of potential special projects, execution of special projects, communications with special project stakeholders, representation for Huron Managed Service within acquisition project forums, and execution of HMS requirements as part of acquisition integration projects.

Special projects will represent the majority of time that this position demands. The Special Projects scope of the CSS PI Team is focused on evaluating-, prioritizing, and executing on high-priority transformative initiatives throughout the Huron-managed revenue cycle in coordination with related departments (revenue cycle and otherwise). Initiatives led by the CSS PI Special Projects Team should involve a holistic view of the revenue cycle, bridging multiple functional areas to provide a centralized management approach to efforts requiring high-degrees of cross-collaboration and/or complexity.

Acquisition integration projects will require oversight over CSS and HMS operational involvement to ensure that the revenue cycle of new facilities/clinics is successfully integrated into HMS. The Manager will provide support for the Adventist Health Revenue Cycle Enterprise Project Management Office (ePMO) to ensure that all revenue cycle integration activities requiring input from HMS are completed in a timely manner and that all participants required are actively engaged and providing their contributions to key steps requiring their coordination.

The Special Projects and Acquisition Manager should possess a strong ability to think critically about the revenue cycle with the ability to analyze abstract situations and adapt to new projects/initiatives. Strong project management and organizational skills in all project sizes is a must. Design and apply conceptual models to business problems to understand issues and support with reporting and analytics.. Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with management a the senior level as well as management skills to lead an internal team to success. Navigate conversations between operational needs and technical capabilities. Excellent in quantitative analysis and communication with the understanding of how to communicate results clearly and efficiently. Ability to manage multiple initiatives across multiple projects while maintaining sound prioritization. Demonstrates critical, analytical thinking in all aspects of the job – technical and non-technical. Strong attention to detail with excellent verbal verbal and written communication.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage a team whose responsibilities include:

  • Developing and managing project workplan, as well as prioritization and execution of special projects

  • Developing and managing the workplan for HMS involvement in facility/clinic acquisitions, as well as execution- or coordination of- the HMS aspects of the acquisition integration project phases outlined below:

  • Revenue Cycle Acquisition Project Preparation Activities

  • Revenue Cycle Current-State Assessment

  • HMS Transition Preparation Activities

  • Acquisition Preparation Activities

  • HMS Transition Activities

  • Acquisition Closure Activities

  • Post-Acquisition Support Activities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of CSS Special Projects Analysts focused on both special projects and acquisition integration initiatives

  • Hold the team accountable via recurring individual and team updates to gauge progress, successes, risks/barriers for all special project and acquisition integration initiatives

  • Represent CSS Performance Improvement in designated leadership forums

  • Represent HMS in specific acquisition facility/clinic project calls or higher-level acquisition strategy/pipeline discussions

  • Participate in revenue cycle management and Cerner meetings/forums to help drive CSS Performance Improvement operational and technical initiatives

  • Coordinate with CSS Vendor Management on special projects or acquisitions initiatives requiring evaluation of new or existing vendors

  • Coordinate with CSS IT-Business Analytics on allocation of Cerner and Adventist Health IT resources for special projects initiatives requiring them

  • Maintain system-wide accountability for adherence to the CSS PI Special Projects operating model

  • Manage a fully remote team 100% of the time

Technical Requirements/Proficiencies:

  • Possesses strong operational understanding of revenue cycle processes

  • Expertise in project management, including coordination of activities across numerous internal and external parties

  • Strong understanding of revenue cycle metrics and the levers that drive them in the patient access, patient financial services, and HIM/coding environments

  • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively manage relationships at the Director/VP level and above with both internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications:

  • U.S. work authorization required

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Administration or a related Healthcare field

  • 5+ years of Healthcare revenue cycle operations experience

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience

  • PMP certification from an accredited agency/organization preferred

  • Experience with Cerner Millennium, including Patient Registration, Patient Financial Clearance, HIM/Coding & Patient Accounting preferred
