POSITION INFORMATION

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage operational control of all Horizon Air flights operating under 14 CFR Part 121 regulations

  • Provide SOC decision support through data collection and analysis through utilization of multiple computer systems, programs and formats

  • Make operational decisions pertaining to aircraft rotation and tail number assignments according to aircraft capability, flight crew qualification, and route limitation

  • Interface with internal and external operations positions that include SOC Aircraft Controller, Dispatcher, Manager Customer Operations, Maintenance Control, SOC Crew Controller, Reservations, FAA, ATC, and various corporate touch points

  • Review and recommend procedural changes as needed

  • Create and maintain processes, which drive compliance with company standards without slowing down the pace of business

  • Maintain peak performance in a fast-paced and stressful work environment

  • Make decisions pertaining to flight cancellations, flight delays, added flights, or modifying the routing of flights in accordance with Company policy and applicable 14 CFR regulations

  • Plan and implement flight diversions and termination or intermediate stops in accordance with Company policy and applicable 14 CFR regulations

  • Coordinate and communicate operational decisions with position having operational control or authority over an individual flight or flight series

  • Ensure all computer entries are made accurately and in accordance with Company policy and procedure

  • Ensure appropriate communication with ATC facilities and personnel is maintained to effectively manage delays, communicate local and national delay programs, and other airspace issues that may arise

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred

  • Possess CFR 14, Part 121 Dispatcher license preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an Airline Systems Operational Control position (or equivalent operational environment) for an FAR Part 121 air carrier required

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills required

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required

  • Strong customer service orientation required

  • Proficiency in software applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel required

  • Ability to work well in fast paced environment required

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively multitask during high stress situations required

  • Demonstrated ability to be a self-starter able to deal with high-pressure situations required

  • Ability to work a variety of schedules including weekends and holidays required

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. required

THE LOCATION

The location of this position is in Seattle, WA with the expectation of travel to Portland, OR until the SOC has permanently moved to Seattle in early 2019.
