The CHH Perianesthesia Unit is a department within Perioperative Services within the Nursing Division. There are 13 operating rooms within the surgical department, as well as a GI Unit and minor procedure room. The daily average volume of patient procedures performed ranges between 30-60 patients. The mission of the department is to provide exemplary, cost-effective care to the surgical patient, and to serve as a role model for surgical patient care in the Pacific Northwest. This position requires working/floating within the perioperative services units. We also provide care for MPV GI recovery patients.
This position plays a vital role in assuming primary responsibility for and providing direct and indirect professional nursing care to patient in the Ambulatory Recovery, Pre-operation and Post-operation areas of OHSU, Ambulatory Surgery Department at the Centers for Health and Healing and Multnomah Pavilion, and in Phase I and II recovery.
This role is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA).
We are hiring multiple positions. The positions will be distributed based on the current amount of knowledge and skills of the other nurses in the unit/departments.
FTE: 1.0, Full Time
Shift Length: 10 Hours
Start and Stop Times: 0600-1000 (0600, 0800, 0900, 1000) to 1630-2030 depending on department needs.
Weekend Obligation: Yes.
Call Expectations: Begins 3 months after transitioning to independent practice. (generally an extension of shift)
Floating Obligation: Begins 6-months after the transition to independent practice and is based on staffing and patient census.
Salary: Hourly rate based on ONA contract
Leave: Successful completion of the TTP program necessitates attendance during all learning activities.
External Candidates: Vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests up to 14-weeks from the start date are not permitted. All other vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests are subject to compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between ONA and OHSU.
Internal Nurse Candidates: All vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests are subject to compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between ONA and OHSU. Pre-scheduled vacations or leave plans must be disclosed prior to consideration for hire to determine the start date.
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing for external hires; Baccalaureate degree preferred to internal nurse candidates.
Baccalaureate degree in Nursing awarded from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) by 30 days before the start date.
Current unencumbered Oregon RN license by 1 week before the start date.
Current BLS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date.
2-years of current nursing experience in adult acute care, adult intermediate care, and adult emergency department observation.
Current ACLS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date.
BLS and ACLS must not expire during the TTP Program.
A minimum score of 11/18 on the OHSU Nurse Interview Evaluation Tool.
