The CHH Perianesthesia Unit is a department within Perioperative Services within the Nursing Division. There are 13 operating rooms within the surgical department, as well as a GI Unit and minor procedure room. The daily average volume of patient procedures performed ranges between 30-60 patients. The mission of the department is to provide exemplary, cost-effective care to the surgical patient, and to serve as a role model for surgical patient care in the Pacific Northwest. This position requires working/floating within the perioperative services units. We also provide care for MPV GI recovery patients.

This position plays a vital role in assuming primary responsibility for and providing direct and indirect professional nursing care to patient in the Ambulatory Recovery, Pre-operation and Post-operation areas of OHSU, Ambulatory Surgery Department at the Centers for Health and Healing and Multnomah Pavilion, and in Phase I and II recovery.

  • This role is subject to a collective bargaining agreement with the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA).

  • We are hiring multiple positions. The positions will be distributed based on the current amount of knowledge and skills of the other nurses in the unit/departments.

  • FTE: 1.0, Full Time

  • Shift: Dayshift/Evenings

  • Shift Length: 10 Hours

  • Start and Stop Times: 0600-1000 (0600, 0800, 0900, 1000) to 1630-2030 depending on department needs.

  • Weekend Obligation: Yes.

  • Call Expectations: Begins 3 months after transitioning to independent practice. (generally an extension of shift)

  • Floating Obligation: Begins 6-months after the transition to independent practice and is based on staffing and patient census.

  • Salary: Hourly rate based on ONA contract

  • Leave: Successful completion of the TTP program necessitates attendance during all learning activities.

  • External Candidates: Vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests up to 14-weeks from the start date are not permitted. All other vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests are subject to compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between ONA and OHSU.

  • Internal Nurse Candidates: All vacation, paid or unpaid leave requests are subject to compliance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement between ONA and OHSU. Pre-scheduled vacations or leave plans must be disclosed prior to consideration for hire to determine the start date.

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing for external hires; Baccalaureate degree preferred to internal nurse candidates.

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing awarded from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) by 30 days before the start date.

  • Current unencumbered Oregon RN license by 1 week before the start date.

  • Current BLS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date.

  • 2-years of current nursing experience in adult acute care, adult intermediate care, and adult emergency department observation.

  • Current ACLS certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date.

  • BLS and ACLS must not expire during the TTP Program.

  • A minimum score of 11/18 on the OHSU Nurse Interview Evaluation Tool.
