The Oregon Rural Practice-based Research Network (ORPRN) was established in 2002 at Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. ORPRN is dedicated to improving the health of rural Oregonians through community-engaged dialogue, coaching, education and research. ORPRN facilitates a broad variety of clinical health care research, quality improvement projects, and practice transformation efforts in Oregon.

The Research Associate manages and implements state and federal contracts which provide training, technical assistance, and other quality improvement services to clinics across Oregon, as well as research grants on a variety of topics.
The position oversees project teams, ensuring adherence to protocols, the recruitment of project participants and the completion of required project activities. The role maintains project budgets and works with the Fiscal Administrator to reconcile any discrepancies. Specific responsibilities include:
Initiate relationships/partnerships with key stakeholder groups to build and develop research and technical assistance collaborations
Develop study protocols, timelines, instruments, training materials and SOPs for research and technical assistance projects
Monitor study activities and support program development
Oversee project teams, providing direct and indirect supervision and mentorship to research staff, ensuring their development, as well as adherence to project protocols and general ORPRN policies
Maintain and monitor grant budgets/expenses and help develop project budgets and contract bids
Prepare and submit grant and contract proposals
Prepare and submit manuscripts, using scientific writing, abstract submission, public presentations and other scientific activities
Master’s Degree with major courses in a relevant field and 3 years of related experience OR Bachelor’s Degree with major courses in a relevant field and 5 years of related experience
Expertise in patient or practice recruitment
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a multi-task environment
Advanced knowledge of MS OFfice Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)
Self-motivated with the ability to exercise judgment and take appropriate action to ensure the success of the team
Experience managing research teams on projects emphasizing quality improvement in primary care settings
Experience managing research staff
Experience with mixed methods research
Knowledge of primary care transformation to achieve the Triple Aim
Previous experience with REDCap, Qualtrics, SmartSheet, Endnote, SAS, R, and Atlas.ti or other qualitative analysis software
Understanding of human subjects protections
CPHQ, ACRP, or SoCRA certification
