The Dean's Research Scholar Program (DRSP) was developed to build on this commitment by recruiting top interdisciplinary postdoctoral researchers to OHSU to catalyze novel interdisciplinary research. ELIGIBILITY:

  • Applicants must have an awarded doctorate degree in a relevant discipline by the position’s start date, if hired. The start date can be flexible within one year from offer.

  • Applicants must identify two (2) or more supervising investigators and develop an interdepartmental research proposal (maximum 1,000 words) prior to applying.

  • Applicants must be highly motivated to accelerate their own research ambitions in pursuing new areas of interdisciplinary research.

As a postdoctoral researcher through the Dean’s Research Scholar Program, the incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing a research project to catalyze novel interdisciplinary research at OHSU. Specific duties will depend on the research project and disciplinary focus, and will include:

  • Designing and performing experiments

  • Data analysis and record keeping

  • Reporting, presenting and publishing results

  • Growing personal and professional expertise through familiarity with current scientific literature and participating in professional development opportunities

  • Provide guidance and training to others in the lab and/or project as needed

These responsibilities are not all-inclusive and additional responsibilities will be assigned as needed.

Salary for this position aligns with the NIH Scale.

  • PhD in discipline appropriate for the proposed research project

  • Extensive lab experience

  • Disciplinary experience indicating strengths in proposed research disciplines

  • Demonstrated ability to excel in interdisciplinary research

  • Strong subject matter expertise

  • Proven experimental design success and laboratory skills

  • Statistical analysis skills

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new and innovative procedures quickly

  • Ability to multi-task efficiently and time management

  • Ability to organize and handle a large quantity of samples and data

  • Strong computer skills

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to organize and document research data

  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Work hours and days may vary depending on needs of the research, weekend and evening hours may be required

  • Some extended travel (including international travel) may be required

  • Ability to work in an open laboratory environment with chemicals, biological samples, radioactivity, and/or similar materials possibly in use in the general vicinity

  • Relevant publications

  • Notable awards and/or independent funding
