This position is located at the VA Portland Healthcare System. The incumbent fabricates, overhauls, modifies, installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains electronic equipment. The work requires knowledge of electronic principles; the ability to recognize improper operation, locate the cause, and determine the best method to correct the defect; and the skill to disassemble, assemble, and adjust electronic equipment. May require the use of a personal computer and numerous software packages.
Major duties include but is not limited to: Performs locksmith duties as the primary function of this position Use of a personal computer and numerous software packages to program or realign the various components or systems, download information, and detect equipment deficiencies Installs, modifies, overhauls, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs electronic equipment of moderate complexity or a system of limited complexity Works from manufacturers' specifications, schematics, block diagrams, and technical orders Determines the operation of the circuits, locate the points from which to take readings, analyze the schematic layout Makes preliminary visual inspections and operational tests to determine components causing malfunctions or invalid readings Makes repairs by replacing damaged, missing, burnt or faulty items Sets up and operates computer controlled automatic test equipment to test and troubleshoot various components and assemblies of electronic equipment Selects and loads the test program for the unit under test Selects appropriate interface device, connect required stimulation and measurement blocks, hooks up the unit under test and uses an electronic keyboard to run the test procedure Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
