Description

We are seeking a part time Dental Hygienist to work 1 day/week; preferably Wednesdays.Qualified applicant will promote dental health by completing dental prophylaxis scaling, root planning and periodontal maintenance; providing oral cancer screening and radiographic studies; charting existing condition, decay and disease; performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act.Great office and fantastic staff!Wednesday patient hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pmPrimary Functions: 1. Prepare treatment room for patient by adhering to prescribed procedures and protocols2. Prepares patient for dental hygiene treatment by welcoming, soothing and seating patient3. Provides information to patients and employees by answering questions and requests4. Maintains instrumentation for dental hygiene treatment5. Selects materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient's oral health6. Completes dental prophys and periodontal scaling and root planning as appropriate7. Completes periodontal charting and takes radiographs8. Applies fluoride and other cavity-preventing agents as necessary9. Maintains patient appearance and ability to masticate by cleaning and polishing removable appliances10. Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies11. Educates patients by giving oral hygiene and plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions12. Documents dental hygiene services by recording vital sign and medical and dental histories; charting in patient records13. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential14. Maintains safe and clean working environment; complies with procedures, rules, and regulations15. Adheres to infection-control policies and protocols16. Ensures operation of dental equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; follows manufacturer's instructions; maintains equipment inventories17. Maintains hygiene supplies inventory; places orders for supplies; verifies receipt of supplies18. Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results19. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications20. Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  1. Registered Dental Hygienist with an active Oregon License

  2. Digital radiography certification required

  3. 2-5 years dental office experience preferred

  4. Follows ADHA Professional Code of Ethics

  5. Dental practice management software experience preferred

  6. BLS for Healthcare Providers

  7. Participate effectively as a team player

  8. Nitrous certification a plus

  9. Experience with bleach, orthodontia helpful but not required

  10. Intraoral camera experience preferred

  11. Excellent reading, oral and written communication skills

  12. Ability to speak a second language helpful but not required

  13. Ability to interact professionally, patiently and courteously

  14. Good problem solving and decision-making skills

  15. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced clinic

  16. Maintain confidentiality and project a professional business image

  17. Ability to be at work on time and on a daily basis

  18. Other duties may include treatment plans and scheduling appointments
