The Avel Gordly Center for Healing is one of the few practices in the Northwest that focuses on culturally sensitive care for the African and African-American community. We have a close collaboration with community partners to ensure that we reach a population who are under served. We recognize how trauma affects the health of our patients and we strive to remove the stigma that is associated with mental illness. We provide cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness based therapy, psychotherapy, and medication management. We have a diverse group of expert practitioners who provide individual, group, marital, couples, and family therapy.
The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.
The Clinical Supervisor of the Avel Gordly Center for Healing provides direct mental health and addictions clinical services in a culturally-competent manner to outpatient clients by providing evaluation, individual, group, family counseling, case management and timely documentation of clinical services consistent with program standards and relevant OARs.
The Clinical Supervisor also provides clinical supervision of counseling staff and students working in the program including individual and group supervision, supervision for licensure, performance evaluations, staff training and scheduling of clinical program staff. The Clinical Supervisor ensures the highest quality of behavioral health care and is responsible for consultation on patient cases, quality assurance activities, periodic outreach events and programmatic consultation.
Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology or another related behavioral health discipline
Three years of paid full-time experience in the social services field with a minimum of two years of direct substance use disorders counseling experience
Currently licensed as an LPC, LMFT or LCSW
Combination of clinical training and experience to meet the standards of the Oregon Board of Licenced Professional Counselors and Oregon Board of Licensed Social Workers as a qualified clinical supervisor
Demonstratable ability to conduct assessments
Demonstratable knowledge and skill in providing evidence-based treatment of mental health and addictive disorders
Cultural competence and expeirence working with the African and African-American communities
120 contact hours of academic or continuing professional education in the treatment of substance use disorders (documentation required)
