Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist - Analyst, System Pharmacy to our location in Portland, OR.
We are seeking a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist - Analyst, System Pharmacy who will work independently with all levels of Core Leaders (System, Region, Service Area and Ministry) utilizing his/her advanced subject matter expertise in pharmacy and analytical skills to lead teams, design advance data sources, develop quality assurance processes, test multiple hypotheses, design challenging visualizations, use advanced contemporary data science techniques, provide ongoing training and facilitate multiple projects.
Areas of particular focus include the measurement and clinical analysis of medication safety, quality, and regulatory compliance for PSJH pharmacy services.
This position ensures that all work produced by the Medication Safety, Quality, and Regulatory Compliance Pharmacy team is conducted with thoughtful analytical discipline, and will support other members of the team through experience with computational methods. This position requires deep pharmacy knowledge related to the medication safety aspects and compliance in addition to clinical operational knowledge of pharmacy to ensure the relevant application of analytical knowledge and experience to make sound clinically sound recommendations.
The audience for this position's work is the entire Providence St. Joseph Health system, from members of the Board of Directors to front line caregivers.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Clinical Pharmacy: Assists in the development, implementation, and advancement of pharmacy services (e.g., medication safety initiatives, protocol development, formulary changes/recommendations, alternative medications in response to changes/shortages and changes in response to regulatory requirements).
Clinical Pharmacy Data Expertise: Advanced Subject Matter Expert in clinical pharmacy and analytic resource in a number of areas applying knowledge of definitions and identifying best sources of data. This combination of expertise will ensure the acquisition of relevant & optimal acquisition and utilization of data to produce dependable and safe products and recommendations that will have high impact on the clinical quality and safety of our services
Clinical Data Architecture and Acquisition: Designs advanced data sources, views and summaries and creates functional data architecture (e.g., from sources such as Datix; Epic). Is an advanced user of graphical user interface-based programs for very complex data acquisition projects related to healthcare and in specific pharmacy & medication related data.
Clinical Data Validation: Due to extensive clinical pharmacy knowledge, develops quality assurance processes; performs data validation; critically and clinically evaluates the output of reports to produce reports with a high degree relevance and accuracy. This will give him/her the ability to make clinical judgement and bring forward recommendations that are clinically relevant
Analysis, Reporting & Presentation: Works with clients to develop and iteratively test multiple hypotheses around complex questions; provide strong written summaries of findings & recommends action; creates presentations that succinctly address and anticipates the questions of the audience. Performs visualization design; completes challenging visualization projects independently; utilizes good sensibility in visual storytelling.
Training: Provides ongoing analytic and general training to caregivers outside of Clinical Analytics and provides regular training and mentorship for Clinical Analytics colleagues.
Statistics / Data Science: Uses advanced contemporary data science techniques and/or biostatistics to complete routine and complex projects in partnership with other data experts or a COE.
Project & Program Management: Manages multiple projects and programs, maintaining timelines and reporting progress to key stakeholders.
Research: Conduct research on latest drug trials, applications, and regulatory changes.
Teamwork: Partners with other clinical analysts (e.g., Healthcare Intelligence) to develop reports that provide meaningful medication safety, quality, and regulatory compliance tools for PSJH pharmacy.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy. or Ph.D. Pharm-D Pharmacy
3 years of relevant pharmacy and data analysis experience in pharmacy setting.
Pharm-D with Pharmacy Residency program is considered equivalent of 3 years experience.
1 year experience with database query and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, D3).
1 year experience/knowledge of clinical pharmacy and operations.
Active Pharmacist License upon hire.
Certification in an IT discipline, application, or tool within 1 year of hire.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Master's Degree in Health Information Management, Computer Science, Mathematics, business administration, healthcare or a related clinical or analytic discipline.
Coursework/Training: Pharmacy Residency with informatics rotation.
1 year Epic experience.
