General Electric Category Manager in Portland, Oregon

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Insights and Analytic Leader, the Category Manager is responsible for providing growth driving category recommendations through a fact-based approach including market trend analysis, category assessment, assortment optimization, planogram development, promotion planning and optimizing the shoppers experience.

Essential Responsibilities:

In addition, as the Category Manager, you will:

  • Own the category management process at Kroger (and its respective banners) securing the appropriate resources to effectively maximize sales and grow margins for Kroger and GE

  • Collect, analyze, interpret and report relevant information sources include:

  • Customer POS

  • Nielsen Scantrack

  • Nielsen Homescan

  • 84.51°

  • and other secondary data sets

  • Work collaboratively and effectively with the Research Center of Excellence and the 84.51® team(s) to lead impactful shopper initiatives

  • Proactively identify emerging shopper trends, competitive threats and customer opportunities leveraging all available resources making fact-based recommendations to Kroger and GE Account Manager(s)

  • Optimize planograms for shopability, space to sales, capacity and GMROII utilizing ProSpace and other applicable tools and research

  • Manage demographic database and support requests for data / information

  • Identify and measure promotional & competitive activities

  • Understand & measure customer and GE CTQs that are identified

  • Responsible for development & maintenance of all customer plan-o-grams

  • Assist in development of annual sales growth and promotional plans

  • Develop and lead regular customer meetings to provide meaningful insights and fact-based recommendations related to customer solicitation, promotional planning, and line reviews

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or related field from an accredited university or college

  • Minimum 5 years of Category Management, Research, or Sales Analytics experience (Including Experience with Space Planning software) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT(S):

  • Ability to travel as required for customer meetings, product knowledge events, and other customer-related activities

  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated Category Management success

  • Working knowledge of CPG Retailers

  • Working knowledge of customer loyalty card information

  • Strong working knowledge of Nielsen Scantrack and/or other syndicated data platforms

  • Strong story telling experience converting data into insights

  • Advanced custom research techniques and shopper insights expertise

  • Strong knowledge of consumer products and developing partnerships with national accounts

  • Proficient in sales and marketing development, data analysis, Plan-O-Gram development, ability to conduct complex ad-hoc data analysis

  • Advanced level analytical and data basing applications experience (Excel and Access)

  • Strong strategic planning, organizational, interpersonal skills; Ability to work effectively in teams with high customer focus

  • Excellent leadership, creative problem solving, and project management skills
