Primary Focus

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR management in supporting company goals and objectives. This position manages day-to-day operations of Human Resources and carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: HRIS management, benefits, employee relations, training, compensation, employment, retention /morale, and employment law compliance.


  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems

  • Coordinates implementation of services, policies, and programs

  • Works closely with other HR staff to ensure continuity of HR processes and consistent implementation of policies, programs, laws and regulations across subsidiary companies

  • Assists with the development of Human Resource policies

  • Acts as a SME on company HR policies, procedures, programs, and laws; Partners with management to communicate HR policies, procedures, programs, and laws

  • Maintains HRIS systems including:

  • Create and maintain employee records

  • Reconcile/validate data entry to ensure data integrity/accuracy

  • Create/support routine reporting requests for shareholders when requested

  • Recommend new processes to increase efficiency

  • Responsible for keeping informed on updates to the HRIS

  • Provides day-to-day benefit administration services

  • Administers health and pension benefits, including COBRA

  • Coordinates health, life and disability insurance enrollments and communicates with service providers concerning routine administration.

  • Schedules and conducts open-enrollment and other benefits trainings/meetings

  • Assist employees with any benefit issues or questions

  • Responsible for submission of government required reports, including government-mandated employee notices

  • Recommends changes in benefits offered, especially new benefits aimed at employee satisfaction and retention.

  • Assists with employee relations

    • Other duties as assigned

Technical Skills: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's)

Education / Experience

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development or similar field and two years' experience in Human Resources

  • 2 + years of experience working for a federal government contractor preferred.


Six years of Human Resources experience with no degree

Technical Skills

  • May be asked to work a flexible schedule which may include holidays

  • Proficient with HRIS systems, Deltek-Cospoint preferred

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office

  • Familiarity with recruiting practices: and ATS

Human Relationship Skills

  • Ability to have and listen to difficult conversations

  • Ability to communicate well with others, both orally and in writing, using technical and non-technical language

  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

  • Excellent critical thinking, evaluation, and analytical skills

  • Ability to resolve conflicts

  • Skill in managing multiple priorities and tasks concurrently to meet deadlines while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others

  • Ability to maintain a positive work environment

  • Requires personal initiative, persistence and the ability to work with little or no supervision
