WorkSource Oregon Harm Reduction Specialist in PENDLETON, Oregon
The Harm Reduction Specialist (HRS) will provide harm reduction services including, but not limited to syringe exchange, overdose prevention, harm reduction education, drop-in activities, and HIV/HCV/STI screening/testing and referral services. The HRS engages community members in learning more about pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to link, re-engage, and retain individuals interested in PrEP into care. The HRS works directly with clients at increased risk of HIV and STI's, substance abuse, or behavioral health conditions to provide support, advocacy, and navigation through medical and ancillary systems of care. Qualifications/Skills * Bilingual (Spanish/English) (Required) * Work experience in harm reduction, safer injection and safer drug use techniques, overdose prevention, substance use, syringe exchange, PrEP, HIV, and HCV prevention desired. * Degree in human services, public health, or other related fields, or related experience for two years of full time (or equivalent), regardless of academic preparation. * Valid Driver's License or access to transportation for meetings and events. * Must pass a criminal history background check. * Must be a self-starter and require minimal supervision to complete projects. Language skill requirement or preference: Applicants will be required to read, write, speak Spanish. With translation capabilities English/Spanish.
