Job Title: Production Supervisor

Department: Packaging

Shift: Day (Yellow)

Wage: Starts at base of $21.68/hr

+$1000 Sign On Bonus Eligible

Position Overview: The Production Supervisor ensures production performance goals for the assigned shift are met including quality and food-safety standards. This position provides support, training, and supervision for machine operators, production leads, and temporary labor assigned to the shift and oversees facilities and proper operation of equipment. In addition, the Production Supervisor is responsible for communication between staff and management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Supervises all employees assigned to department shift.

  • Maintains communication between the shift, management, and other company departments.

  • Provides real-time feedback on operational and employee performance.

  • Assists management in training and development of department staff.

  • Supports management in implementing approved processes amongst assigned staff.

  • Assists management in drafting, revising, reviewing and implementing all Standard Operating Procedures, production and department paperwork.

  • Responsible for training and mentoring production leads.

  • Coordinates employee break time and sick time to comply with all relevant regulations.

  • Ensures compliance with company policy, goals, safety and food safety regulations.

  • Communicates shift updates and information to the department management.

  • Investigates and resolves employee relations issues with the support of Human Resources and management.

  • Represents the department shift in interdepartmental meetings and discussions.

  • Serves as a member of the Emergency Response Team.

  • Responsible for building and premise security and overall facility integrity.

  • Complies with all company policies and procedures and operates all equipment in a safe manner.

  • Ensures compliance with Bob’s Red Mill food safety policies and procedures including adherence to FDA regulations and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in all aspects of operations within the assigned department.

  • Functional understanding of the department within organization including demonstrating ability to utilize equipment and relevant machinery.

  • Basic understanding of employment law.

  • Strong interpersonal and relational skills – able to diffuse highly charged situations.

  • Good time management skills.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours depending on company needs.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.

  • Ability to work both individually and as a member of a team.

  • Possesses a strong working knowledge of all aspects of the assigned department.

  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 3 or more years of machine operator, manufacturing, or production experience required.

  • 6 years of machine operator, manufacturing, or production experience preferred.

  • 1-2 years of management, supervisory, or lead experience preferred.

  • Two training courses to be completed within the first two months.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Physical Demands:

  • Occasional lifting of product both raw and finished weighing up to 55 pounds.

  • Good physical dexterity with the ability to climb step ladders and stairs, squat, kneel, stand for long periods of time, reach overhead, walk on uneven surfaces, etc.

Work Environment:

  • Working weekends is required.

  • The primary work environment for this position is within the production department. There are no adverse conditions associated with this position.
