As or organization continues to grow, we are currently looking for an Area Controller to oversee all dealership accounting functions performed at both the dealership and Centralized Accounting location. This position is responsible for the hiring and development of all Business and Accounting Managers. They will work closely with the Group Leader (Regional VP), Business Managers and Support Services Leaders to ensure that the dealership accounting services support the needs of each dealership. . The Area Controller is also responsible for hiring and developing Business Managers as needed. Additionally, the Area Controller ensures that financial controls are in place, operating effectively and understood.

Job Description

  • Area Controller Position Description

  • Ensure that Shared Services, Centralized Accounting locations and individual business offices are providing efficient, timely and accurate service to dealerships

  • Develop action plans for all acquisitions, open points and divestitures in the region

  • Review regional findings from internal audit, Support Services reviews, etc., and implement action plans for training on identified weaknesses

  • Support key financial control efforts, including adherence to all policies relating to SOX

  • Evaluate the efficiency and productivity of the dealership accounting team; help increase efficiencies

  • Contribute to dealership accounting projects as needed

  • Support and lead initiatives that promote the development of Business Managers and dealership accounting teams

  • Review and identify profitability opportunities through review of regional performance

  • Maintain ongoing communication with Group Leaders (Regional VPs), General Managers, and other key operational leaders as neededQualifications

    • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or commensurate experience
  • Experience in leadership roles with increasing degree of responsibility

  • Prior dealership or operational accounting experience

  • Ability to work with high performing personnel

  • Strong attention to detail and high sense of urgency
