This Sr Manager, System Engineering opportunity is a part of the Materials and Structural Analysis Semiconductor Business Unit located in Hillsboro, OR. We focus on providing root cause analysis and metrology solutions to the semiconductor market to help our customers develop and ramp to production their most advanced integrated circuits. Our Hillsboro site produces world class electron microscope systems and core technology used by scientists and engineers to drive innovation around the globe. Our products have been instrumental in Nobel prize winning discoveries, have been highlighted by National Geographic , and were awarded Gold at the Edison awards. How will you make an impact?
The Sr. Systems Engineering Manager plays a central role throughout the different phases of the product life cycle. In this position, with your solid technical experience in product development, project management and excellence in engineering execution, you will lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of highly skilled engineers and scientists., responsible for developing and supporting preeminent next generation FIB and SEM metrology systems as well as supporting and improving current systems, enabling innovative wafer-to-atomic information workflows, critical to our semiconductor customers. You will have a lead role in next generation product development, from technology evaluation and selection, specifications development, product validation, verification, transfer to manufacturing, and support of customer ramp. Responsibilities will include direct, functional management and leadership of scientists and engineers and top-level project and resource management. The candidate must be effective at leading a multidisciplinary team and work in a matrix organization using Agile techniques to achieve program goals. What will you do?
Direct management and leadership of scientists and engineers including mentorship and career growth.
Indirect leadership of product development team in a matrix reporting structure, driving key product goals.
Define, plan, drive and lead the execution of the product development roadmap for new and existing products.
Develop and manage project budgets and resource plans across the department, utilizing Agile techniques to re-balance when necessary to meet the Company's objectives.
Establish plans and execute product development activities to meet project goals including specification development, design reviews, prototype development, pilot build and product release readiness.
Drive product or feature introduction. This includes developing system alignment, diagnostics and calibration strategies, training of operations and field personnel, and solving technical issues that may impact product introduction and ramp.
Ensure best in class product development processes including ISO compliance and adherence to the Stage Gate product development process.
Communicate and coordinate with supporting groups such as marketing, manufacturing, research and quality to meet the business objectives and on time product delivery.
Develop and deliver project status reports, proactively identifying, resolving and communicating any issues that may impact the team's ability to meet key goals.
How will you get here?
Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
10+ years of product development and systems design required, including budgetary development and resource planning.
5+ years managerial experience in relevant discipline.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a technical, highly skilled team.
Strong project management skills and expertise in product development and the product development life cycle, from initial specification and design all the way to manufacturing.
Proven track record of strong product design principals including technical and analytical skills.
Experience developing capital equipment for Semiconductor or other manufacturing industries.
Semiconductor capital equipment experience is strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex system data to lead system design decisions and develop system requirements.
Ability to make decisions with ambiguous data to drive towards project goals.
Ability to work within a matrix organization, comprising multi-functional teams, to accomplish business goals and gain alignment from key partners.
Excellent customer focus and customer engagement experience.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally as needed (20% maximum).
