Umpqua Bank Enterprise Data Quality Analyst in Hillsboro, Oregon
Enterprise Data Quality & Governance is responsible for developing and implementing
structure, process and technology to drive decision making for the effective usage of data
across the enterprise. Team is responsible for key deliverables associated with sourcing,
cleansing, organizing, defining and measuring meta data. Team will report on significant
data risk and control issues and assist in the development of effective remediation plans.
This position provides information and analysis necessary to evaluate quality of the data,
understanding business processes and identify/inform data governance program
improvements and/or decisions; develops, implements, and analyzes a variety of reports
from various data sources; consults with managers in the use of analytical and reporting
tools to execute the monitoring of data quality and develop effective governance outcomes;
utilizes data quality tool, reporting tools and information systems to research and identify
areas for data quality improvement; interprets data and makes recommendat ions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate a broad understanding of information management strategies to
provide insight toward maintenance and scalability of critical data assets,
opportunities for operational efficiencies and adherence to service levels.
Responsible for documenting data flows, risk and remediation plans, as well as
maintaining policies and procedures.
Assist in the review of operating procedures and evaluation of the adequacy of
system controls, the reliability of internal information systems and related data to
ensure conformance to data quality controls.
Assist management in developing action-oriented and compelling enterprise data
quality reports and employing data analysis and data visualization tools (e.g.
Tableau, Microsoft PowerView, etc.) to interpret and communicate review results
through clear visual outputs.
Participate in Enterprise Data Governance work groups, proactively partnering with a
cross functional teams and business unit data stewards and owners to define data
quality thresholds, overseeing data related to core systems, origination systems and
other third party data providers associated with financial, operational and executive
Work across Business Lines, Operations and Technology to support the
implementation of the bank’s Data Governance Framework.
Accountable for facilitating the Data Issue remediation management and escalation
process, including working across teams to articulate issue facts and materiality.
Responsible for supporting and preparing for key Steering Group and Working Group
meetings including status updates and implementation planning.
Maintain comprehensive, professional and well-organized documentation of
reporting, analysis and conclusions, for future review by internal audit and
regulators. As well as effectively presents findings of analysis both in written and
verbal form in a clear and coherent manner transferring understanding in a way that is accurate and actionable.
Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Related Bachelor’s degree (MIS, Computer Science, Business, or Finance) or relevant data quality analyst or business intelligence experience
3-5 years’ work experience related to data quality and data issue management with deep expertise conducting business and systems analysis
Excellent interpersonal relationship-building, influencing, and communication skills, both written and verbal to act as a liaison, conveying information in a suitable manner between the business units and counterparts within Information Technology and Operations
Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills and a creative and flexible approach to problem solving, knowledge of data query and/or expression languages, data visualization and analysis tools (e.g. Cognos BI, Datawatch, Information Builders, Microsoft PowerView, Microstrategy, Tableau, etx.)
Develop business requirements documents
Ability to create clear and accurate presentation for both Sr. Management and Steering Committees to demonstrate requirements and business cases for remediation
Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a team-oriented and fast-paced environment with exceptional communication skills and demonstrable ability to effectively communicate to all levels of organization, this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations, with the ability to influence others to move toward consensus
Keen attention to detail with strong sense of ownership and accountability for work

Fluency with all MS Office tools Strong technical skills with Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
