Job Description Summary Supervises and coordinates activities of 10 plus workers engaged in packaging products and materials for storage or shipment by performing the following duties. Job Description Maintains safe work practices at all times and participates in safety programs. Studies production order to ascertain type and quantity of product, containers to be used, and other packaging requirements and standards are met. Inspects product prior to packaging and returns rejected or unused materials to storage. Observes packaging operations for lines 3-1 and 3-2, inspects containers to verify conformance to specifications, and documents findings. Starts, adjusts, and repairs packaging machinery, or notifies maintenance department. Assures containers and other supplies are delivered to work stations when needed. Studies production scheduled and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. Recommends and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. Suggests change in working conditions and equipment to increase efficiency of department and or work crew. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Monitors paper and fiber waste. Assures and line flow, and product waste is monitored and labeled properly. Understand customer specifications, and strives to achieve AQL's. Must be willing to accept other duties as assigned. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. Maintain records for production and HACCP. Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. Performs activities of workers supervised. Maintain sanitation of work area. Job Qualifications The Lead must have good oral and written communication skills for the position. The lead must be qualified to be a Packaging Operator to maintain the position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is constantly required to stand on hard floors and walk quickly. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 90 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to slippery, wet and/or humid conditions and toxic or hazardous chemicals. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles such as fiber dust and tight confined spaces. The employee works near moving mechanical parts, in high spaces, and is exposed to extreme heat and cold alternating through each shift. The noise level in the work environment is usually
