Lifeways is currently seeking a Full-time Infection Prevention/Employee Health/Education Nurse to provide services for our Aspen Springs Psychiatric Hospital in Hermiston, OR . ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job. Performs all duties assigned utilizing the nursing process principles of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. Adheres to Oregon State Board of Nursing Standards and Scope of Practice for an LPN or RN. Effectively interacts with patients, significant others and other health team members. Develops and maintains therapeutic patient relationships with close adherence to patient-centered services. Works as an active and cooperative member of treatment team. Oversees and ensures the daily practices as outlined in the Infection Control/Prevention Plan; provides training as required and needed. The Infection Preventionist (IP)/Nurse shall be responsible for the implementation of the multiple facets of the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP) by working in a consultative role with medical staff to prevent, identify and minimize Healthcare Associated Infections across the continuum. This person is responsible for developing and implementing policies governing control of infections and communicable disease and develops a system for identifying, reporting, investigating and controlling infection and communicable diseases. Monitoring of health care-associated infections and instituting effective control measures where appropriate. Assessing, analyzing, and eliminating the risks of HAIs. Conducting surveillance activities. Collecting, analyzing, and presenting data. Reporting surveillance findings to management, frontline staff, and other appropriate personnel. Monitoring trends in antimicrobial resistance. Educating staff about strategies to prevent infection. Participating in quality assurance/performance improvement activities. Promoting the use of evidence-based infection prevention practices. Identifying and responding to acute events such as outbreaks and emerging infectious diseases. Identifying outbreaks. Monitoring the effectiveness of the IPCP. Communicating with staff and leadership. Ensuring that clear policies and procedures exist to provide guidance for best practices; making sure staff and patients are aware of policies and that mechanisms are in place to ensure compliance with Infection Prevention and Control Policies and Procedures. Ensuring front line staff are engaged in decision making and influence the direction of their work by working with staff to enhance best practice. Monitoring the compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations for the prevention of infections in the healthcare practice area. Reviewing construction projects.
