Department Summary

The University of Oregon's Museum of Natural and Cultural History protects significant collections, enhances knowledge, and encourages stewardship of human and natural history through research, preservation, and education.

Position Summary

The Museum of Natural & Cultural History at the University of Oregon conducts cultural resource studies for state and federal agencies, and other clients. The museum is seeking to build a pool of qualified adjunct researchers at various skill levels. Positions are limited duration appointments with the possibility of renewal based on need, funding and performance for up to 3 years. Minimum Requirements

Research Associate/Crew Leader:

• Terminal degree (archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation, or related field)

• Meets the requirement for a "qualified" archaeologist per Oregon law (ORS 390.235).

• Archaeology or historic preservation fieldwork experience.

Research Assistant:

• Bachelor's degree (archaeology, anthropology, historic preservation, or related field)

• Archaeology or historic preservation fieldwork experience.

Professional Competencies

• Proficient writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with archaeology and cultural resource management in the Pacific Northwest.

• Experience with CRM policies of state and federal agencies.

• Experience with GIS information management in ArcMap.
