Aerotek Quality Assurance Technician in Eugene, Oregon


Quality assurance technician will essentially be responsible for maintaining food safety and quality throughout the facility and assist production in ensuring policies and SOPs are being followed.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform analysis and testing on samples and documenting/communicating on products (microbiological, chemical, physical)

  • Production line quality checks and documentation

  • Following of SOPs, documenting anything that might be out of order for SOPs

  • Data entry on computer and general maintenance of QA database, logging results from various tests

  • Food quality testing and control (allergen, pH, water, air, size and shape testing)

  • Restock, inventory and communicate needed supplies to lab Supervisor.

  • Testing product, mixes, cream and sugar to ensure they meet desired specifications.

  • Acceptance and rejection of raw materials and packaging.

Communication to Director of Quality Assurance of non-conforming raw materials and finished products.

  • Calibration and documentation of laboratory equipment and plant-wide thermometers.

  • Yogurt culture preparation and titration, brix testing for sorbet products, butterfat and total solids testing as specified by products.

  • Print and develop mix sheets as needed to help assist production.

  • Ability to read/write/speak English for documentation purposes

Ensuring Food Safety:

  • Report food safety and food quality observations/problems to Lab Manager to initiate action

  • Monitor daily production to ensure high quality and food safety

  • Assure personnel hygiene and welfare within the facility

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting/standing for long periods of times (up to min 4 hours)

  • Frequently walking

  • Liftings less than 30 lbs, carrying 30-50 lbs

  • Working in cold environments (freezer part of warehouse)

Currently hiring for 2 Lab Technicians to join their QA team (1 day shift, 1 swing shift) on an open ended contract for the summer (seasonal busy time).

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Maintaining food safety and food quality through ensuring GFSI compliance.

Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

The monitoring of daily production to ensure high quality and food safety.

Assuring personnel hygiene and welfare practices within the facility.

High school diploma at a minimum

If only high school diploma, then 6 months - 1 year prior experience in Food & Bev industry required (would look at someone entry level with a food science experience)

If a recent college graduate, will require scientific BS or AA degree

Ability to show that they are reliable (this person will be working during the peak busy time, cannot afford to have to let someone go from the role due to being unreliable)
