Lane County is currently recruiting an INTERN for the Emergency Management Division of Public Works
In alignment with Lane County's Strategic Plan, and to improve recruitment, selection, retention, and advancement of underrepresented groups in Lane County, the following internship will be offered to Lane County residents, undergraduate, and graduate students with particular emphasis on providing pathways for historically underrepresented individuals to professional careers at Lane County. Historically underrepresented groups may include, but are not limited to: first generation college students, low-income students, students who identify as LGBTQ+, students of color, veterans, and students with disabilities.
This internship will support the City of Florence in their Emergency Preparedness planning efforts: assisting the City of Florence in the update of their Emergency Operations Plan, updating the plan to follow the Comprehensive Preparedness Guide 101 Version 2 guidance. This update will include the incorporation of Operation Annexes. Assisting with the grant writing process to facilitate procurement of back up fuel sources and power generation options to identified community shelters and first responder resources.
Schedule: Hours will vary by week depending on program needs: 10 hours a week, between hours of 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Saturday.
This position is budgeted for a maximum of 520 hours

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING; ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Modern principles and practices of analyzing data; administration concepts and theories; research methods. A strong candidate for this position would have a willingness to learn, good writing skills, and active listening skills.
Use computers and MS Word, understand and carry out oral and written directions; analyze a variety of information and concisely summarize it.
