Minimum Qualifications One year of experience caring for, restraining, and handling animals which demonstrates knowledge of: normal and/or abnormal behavior and habits of large animals (e.g., horses, cattle, sheep, etc.) and/or small animals (cats and dogs); animal husbandry and hygiene; animal restraint techniques and devices; basic medications used in animal care; and equipment and machinery used in the care of animals and cleaning of stalls and/or cages. Finalists for this position will be required to complete a criminal background history and motor vehicle background criteria form. Offers of employment are contingent upon a satisfactory background check. This position may require a valid driver license. Additional Required Qualifications One year experience caring for and handling large animals. Experience should include cleaning and changing bedding and providing feed and water for large animals. Experience with facilities sanitation and maintenance. Ability to use a variety of manual and motorized cleaning and grounds maintenance equipment to perform duties such as cleaning and disinfecting stalls and equipment, mowing and maintaining pastures, repairing fences, and stocking supplies. Must be professional, a team player, caring, flexible, organized, and efficient, have good communication skills, and the ability to follow instructions. Position Duties 60% SANITATION AND MAINTENANCE: Clean and change bedding, feed, and water hospitalized animals to meet attending clinician's instructions as necessary in coordination with student worker availability. 10% PASTURE AND BARNS: Daily care and feeding, watering and cleaning up therio herd areas.
