The Food Innovation Center (FIC) Experiment Station is seeking a Outreach Program Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.

The Food Innovation Center (FIC) Experiment Station is an off-campus unit of the OSU Agricultural Experiment Station and is located in downtown Portland. The FIC Experiment Station supports mission-oriented research in the areas of food product development, package and logistics engineering, consumer sensory science, and agricultural market economics.

The Outreach Program Coordinator will assist with planning, coordinating, and executing the day-to-day activities of cross-disciplinary work for the Product Development Program, as well as special event planning. The work will be conducted in the Product and Process Development Laboratory, research kitchen, pilot processing facility and analytical support laboratory. Responsibilities will include supporting the Product and Process Development program and FIC Director. Duties include coordination of client intake, project proposal preparation, project ideation and development duties, and product presentation at meetings of industry representatives. Activities that support the FIC Experiment Station Director include working on grants and sponsored research to execute project objectives and reporting; developing marketing materials for the FIC and maintaining social media channels to promote the Center.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requires Bachelor’s Degree in field relevant to program focus. May require certification or licensure as appropriate to the position.

Requirements :

Highest Degree: B.S. Food Science or related degree with minimum 1-year experience in product development, sales, marketing and event planning.

Other specialized instruction or certificates: none.

Industrial and/or research laboratory experience in product development and food quality analysis.

Safe food handling experience.

Sales, marketing, and tradeshow experience.

Demonstrated competency with: - product formulation, development, and specification. - oral and written communication skills. - computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, desktop presentation, email and web searches. - event-planning skills.
