The College of Pharmacy is seeking an Academic Advisor. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean.

This position will provide primary advising for approximately 160 Pharmacy students, including annual required and early intervention advising, and assist in the creation and implementation of a Career and Professional Development program in collaboration with the Director of Student Services/Head Advisor.

This position will also participate as a full member of the Pharm.D. Admissions committee, including file reviews and interviews. As well as create content and coordinate Pharm.D. orientation programs with Student Services, Experiential Education and Alumni Relations.

This position requires occasional evening and weekend work. The candidate needs to be able to assist with recruiting and advising on both campuses (Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU)-Portland and Oregon State University (OSU)-Corvallis) and off-site locations.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requires Bachelors Degree in field related to work assigned.

Requirements :

Master’s Degree in College Student Services Administration, Counseling, Higher Education Administration or related field.

A minimum of 1 year of experience in academic advising or career counseling at a post-secondary level.

Committed to a learner-centered, developmental philosophy and demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population.

Experience with career and professional development of adult learners.

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, discretion and professionalism.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 24 months.

This position requires driving a University vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the University; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions (as per Voluntary and Compulsory Driver Standards OAR 125-155-0200) as per OAR 576-056-0000 et seq.


Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
