Job Summary/Purpose:

Central Oregon Community College Student Ambassadors are often the first face-to-face contact prospective students have with COCC, thus serving as a very important representative of the College. Ambassadors will work on average 2-5 hours per week leading campus tours and assisting in recruitment events. Strong people skills, ability to interact with diverse populations, willingness to share COCC knowledge and experiences and reliability are key.

Terms of Employment:
• This is a part-time (<.50 FTE) Temporary Hourly/Non-Benefited position • Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district when needed. • Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.

Essential Functions:

Responsibilities • Conduct guided campus tours throughout the week • Conduct drop-in campus tours on an as-needed basis • Represent COCC during on-campus recruiting events (mandatory) o Fall Preview Day (November 9, 2018) • Assist with recruitment activities/programs including campus visitation programs and group tours • Assist with Bobcat Orientation o Winter Term (January 4, 2019) o Spring Term (March 29, 2019) • Assist with in-district high school visits • Assist in calling campaigns • Regularly interact with other COCC student leaders for events and activities • Attend staff meetings • Process/R-flow recruits through Banner • Attend Student Ambassador training • Attend Student Leadership Initiative • Wear the appropriate attire during each tour or event, as describe during training • All other duties as assigned

• Currently enrolled COCC student in good academic standing • Intention of remaining full-time student during the 2018-19 school year • Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal skills and flexibility • Ability to effectively and positively represent COCC • Commitment to promoting diversity • Exhibit leadership, initiative, dependability, discipline and self-confidence

Physical Demands and Other Ergonomic Requirements:

Working hours are regular, per the established work schedule. Work is performed in an ordinary office, mostly sitting. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to function effectively indoors in an office environment engaged in work of primarily a sedentary nature with the ability to sit or stand at workstation for extended periods. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Occasional lifting under ten pounds for 15 percent of the time. Computer screen is used more than 75 percent of the time. All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
