Job Title: Intern – Pharmaceutical Process Technology (PPT)

Supports the pharmaceutical Research and Development scientists and chemical engineers in the Early Development and Formulation & Process Development departments. Develops understanding of drug delivery and formulation techniques and processes.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists scientists with experimental planning, execution, analysis and communication of lab results.

  • Follows procedures to maintain Good Lab Practices (GLP).

  • Assists with the recording, analyzing, evaluating, interpreting and summarizing technical data.

  • Cleans laboratory glassware, disposes of waste and maintains equipment in laboratories.

  • Supports engineering special projects as assigned, which may include assembling, disassembling, operating and cleaning process equipment. Primary intern project may include Hot Melt Extrusion (HME) feasibility parameters project.


Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university (sophomore/junior/senior year) and maintain GPA of 3.0 or higher.


1+ years of experience in lab or engineering work environment preferred.


Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.


Proficiency of GLPs and working in a lab environment preferred. Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and organizational skills. Attention to detail. Project management skills preferred. Ability to work independently. Excellent time management skills. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements:

Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-35 pound pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time.
