Job Summary/Purpose:

To be legislative connection to statewide student associations

Terms of Employment:

• This is a part-time (<.50 FTE ) Temporary Hourly/Non-Benefited position

• Requires flexible work schedule, which may include evenings and/or weekends as well as travel throughout the district when needed.

• COCC employees must work and reside in the state of Oregon at the time their work is being performed.

• Upon hire, must pass criminal and/or driving history; only information relevant to the position will be considered.

Essential Functions:

  1. Legislative connection to statewide student associations, COCC administration, COCC Board of Directors, local, state and national legislators

    1. In partnership with the Office of Student Life organizes and oversees student voter registration and voter education

    2. Advocates on behalf of student concerns and issues on a state and national level

    3. Works with students to identify campus wide concerns as appropriate

    4. Generates a legislative report once per term

    5. Coordinate annual Oregon Council of Student Services Administrators’ certification binder

    6. Recruit at least one student to sit on the Oregon Students of Color Coalition and one student to sit on the Oregon Student Equal Rights Association Board

    7. Abide by all sections of ASCOCC’s Constitution, By Laws, and Policies and Procedures.

    8. Be able to function effectively in an office environment.

    9. Regularly attend ASCOCC Council Meetings and Quorums.

    10. Represent the Students of COCC ethically, responsibly, and equally

Individuals must possess these knowledge, skills and abilities or demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Work is performed in an office environment, mostly sitting. Computer screen is used 25 percent of the time. The employee is regularly required use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms and requires near visual acuity to write, read written materials and computer screens, and sufficient hearing and speech ability for ordinary telephonic conversations. Physical movements involve guiding, feeding materials into proper position. Lifting objects vary daily, ranging up to 20lbs All individuals are required to be able to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
