As the Sustainability Manager you will be responsible for leading the implementation of our sustainability strategy, with an emphasis on waste reduction, single-use reduction, carbon reduction, sourcing and maintaining a network of local farming partner’s, implementing sustainable environmental practices, and collaborating with the Culinary and Marketing departments to tell the sustainability story to our guests and clients.
Core Job Duties/Responsibilities
Implement a comprehensive waste minimization strategy and program for unit dining program.
Establish partnerships with local growers/producers through approved supply chain management process.
Work with operations team on energy and water conservation initiatives and green building practices in all dining facilities.
Create sustainability marketing and education awareness campaigns and events.
Participate in regular meetings with internal team, external stakeholders and collaborate on sustainability initiatives and ensure that environmental goals and projects align.
Coordinate sustainability training for the management team and hourly employees.
Plan educational field trips for employees to local farms and suppliers.
Supervise, lead, train and monitor the activities of Dining team to accomplish sustainability goals
Serve as liaison to the community for sustainability-related programs, projects, policies, challenges, ideas and issues. Engage managers to develop, implement and manage campus sustainability solutions.
Prepare budget proposals, recommendations and approvals where appropriate.
Work with management team to evaluate effectiveness and potential of unique project/programs/functions.
Oversee the development and facilitation of content, workshops, meetings or conferences with high impact on program and/or participation; monitor logistics, scheduling, and participant communications.
Maintain effective client and customer rapport for mutually beneficial business relationships. Identify client needs and communicate operational progress. Demonstrate excellent customer service using Aramark’s standard service model.
Represent the unit and serve on various work streams/committees
Partner with Managers and FLAs in kitchens to educate and provide in the moment coaching on sustainable food practices

Degree in a subject related to sustainability; Master’s degree preferred (business, environment and/or sustainability).
Significant (5-7 years +) experience working in sustainability team or specialized consultancy. Relevant professional experience from a top-tier consulting firm, non-profit working with business, or sustainability, corporate affairs, or similar role in the private sector.
Knowledge of and experience with social and environmental matters, including interconnected issues; understands business and operations of large food company.
Inquisitive mind set with strong analytical abilities. Strategic thinker looking outside to bring new approaches to continually improve internal effectiveness.
Highly analytical, ability to synthesize information and offer recommendations/solutions.
Ability to work independently and manage multi-stakeholder engagement from vision to implementation.
Ability to communicate and facilitate dialogue with those holding diverse and opposing views, by finding common ground and identifying opportunities to move forward. Courage and conviction in managing difficult conversations.
Resilient, and able to adapt to challenges, identify underlying concerns, share ideas and develop effective responses or elevate to higher management.
Demonstrated ability to work across complex organizations.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Organized with a strong attention to detail and follow through.
Able to handle multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
Budget development and oversight experience.
