The Wideband Solutions Business Unit is looking for a Digital

Signal Processing Engineer to join our team. This individual will define and write instrumentation software

that provides critical measurements for products addressing current and

emerging digital design technologies in the computer and communications

industries. We are looking for a collaborative individual that will work

closely with engineering and marketing team members to research and understand

customer needs, and develop the feature set and specifications that define the

new products.

  • Design measurementsystems that characterize and verify according to standards, customer devices,interconnects, optical and electrical systems.

  • Understand customerneeds and develop solutions to meet their needs

  • Refine productrequirements such as: finding the middle between what’s functionally useful,what’s economically practical, and what’s “easy to drive”

  • Participatein the engineering design, debug and test of new algorithms and software usingsampled-data techniques and timing measurement analysis

  • Provide technical leadershipand act as a positive influencer as an individual contributor

  • Accurately set and meetschedules for projects, identify project risks and generatealternatives/recommendations to remove risk

  • Work on assigned modules(design, software engineering, implementation, code review, unit testing)

  • Focus on quality deliverableswith high accountability and commitment to program objectives

  • Perform peer review and peertesting of software work products

  • Leverage Fortive’s processimprovement toolset to proactive identify and address opportunities forprocess improvement in the engineering organization



  • 4 yearsof design experience

  • Experience with C , Cand MATLAB languages

  • Experience withtheoretical and working knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) concepts,such as FIR IIR filters, Fourier transforms, aliasing, and sample rateadjustment (decimation, interpolation)

  • Experience withtheoretical and working knowledge of statistics (mean, standard deviation,random vs deterministic, PDF, CDF, properties of Gaussian distributions)

  • Strong analytic andproblem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills.


  • Masters or PhD in Software Engineering, Math, Computer Science,Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

  • 4-6 years of successful design experience working with industry partners such as,high-tech chip vendors, product manufacturers and system integrators, to designalgorithms for test and measurement equipment

  • Knowledgeof programming for Windows run-time environments

  • Acuriosity for learning and excellent verbal/written communication and teamworkskills are essential requirements for this position

  • Familiarity withmultithreading, memory management, object oriented programming, and real timeoperating system concepts

  • Understanding of serialdata links such as: Unit interval, transmitter/channel/receiver,single-ended vs. differential clock recovery, Phase Locked Loops (PLL), Slicer,Eye Diagram Signal-to-Noise Ratio

  • Familiarity withengineering tools & techniques such as: Agile software development process,Version control, Defect tracking, Requirements Definition and productdevelopment models (e.g. Agile/Scrumtechniques)
