Our Engineering teams are vital to the success of our existing and emerging products and sensors platforms. As a Mechanical engineer, you will play a key role in product design within this team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, create prototypes, testing and in some cases performs test procedures for electro–optical–mechanical integrations. This position requires a highly motivated, team oriented, professional with the right mix of relevant experience and skills, and keen interest in learning about the company product offering. This role will require interaction with EE designers, manufacturing test engineers and peers from engineering organization globally, you will require outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of energy and flexibility to get things done and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented product development environment. You expected to have strong understanding Mechanical design and familiarity with DFM and processes such as injection molding, machining, sheet metal forming and aluminum casting.
In this role, you will design, develop and create 3D models, detailed mechanical drawings, develop BOM, working closely with electrical designers for designs consisting of electro-mechanical parts. In this role you will work on design and development of new products and monitoring devices for our Utilities and industrial customers. You will work closely with mechanical, electrical, chemical, instrumentation multidiscipline engineering teams in collaborative design projects who use Agile development Methods and the Scrum Framework to deliver critical, customer facing, solutions for Utilities and industrial customers. You will report to NPI Engineering manager.
Here’s where you’ll demonstrate your competencies:
Create 3D models, detail mechanical drawings, and develop BOMs using SolidWorks CAD
Design complex components & assemblies with DFMA in mind
Fabricate physical prototypes for proof of concept and testing
Mechanical and structural analysis as needed (FEA using SolidWorks)
Present mechanical design concepts to project teams
Evaluate new components, materials, and manufacturing methods for application in new and existing products.
Understands and follows the Product Life Cycle process, ECO release, and documentation.
Support transition to production and perform failure analysis on problem areas
Conveys 3D design files offsite for rapid 3D prototyping, as well as longer term production-volume CNC
Verify that all acceptance criteria are met
Analyze issues and identify alternative solutions or workarounds
Make sure all the features, issues and tests are documented in compliance with our internal processes
Support existing products life cycle management
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Mechanical engineering or other engineering discipline.
3+ years’ experience in mechanical design and engineering.
Experience 3D CAD designs for parts and test fixtures
Experience with 3D design including use of Creo, Solidworks, or equivalent design platforms.
Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously
Experience in designs consisting of electro-mechanical, optical integration
Are an independent and motivated self-starter
Work well within teams and individually
Preferred skills/experience:
Experience with DFM and processes such as injection molding, machining, sheet metal forming and aluminum casting
Ability Operate machine tools to touch up prototype parts, adding details, threading, polishing, other operations to finish parts before building and testing
Experience in product development for Utilities and industrial customers
