Education: Bachelor’s degree in design or fashion Experience eight years of overall progressive experience in design. Skills/Requirements: 6 years of experience: (1) coaching and mentoring designers or design interns to ensure work quality and review their performance; (2) coordinating with a global cross-functional team to establish and finalize the design project direction; (3) review design workflow and amount of work to ensure that project timelines are met; (4) ensure key product creation process dates are met and design tools are effectively used; (5) prepare and present design presentations to executive leadership; (6) review the design vision within the team from end-to-end to ensure the overall product vision remains accurate and consistent with business goals; (7) manage the design process and customer and client relationships to ensure that project standards and deadlines are met; and (8) engage in trend research and interpret that research into insights that become future products.

NIKE, Inc., Beaverton, OR. Will Envision and direct the creation of footwear for the modern performance of sports in Beaverton, OR. Will set the future innovation vision and direct the creation of innovative footwear concepts. Will lead the transition of innovation projects into the in-line categories for commercialization. Will partner with categories and innovation leadership to build future innovation constructs that set the foundation for future product vision. Will partner with design leadership to develop the seasonal creative strategy and explore the cross-categorical potential of innovation concepts. Will lead the design team in executing design visions, provide strategic oversight of individual project briefs that come from the innovation construct and ensures the project readiness. Will deliver compelling visual and verbal presentations of the project vision and the product story at key milestones in the process and at senior leadership meetings. Will lead the seamless transition of innovation projects into the in-line categories in partnership with innovation development and category design leadership. Will manage teams and set team and individual goals that align with department and function goals. Will coach staff, create opportunities for staff development, make hiring decisions, and drive performance management, recognition, and rewards. Will develop a team structure that facilitates and maximizes individual and team performance. Will motivate and inspire the team to envision the future of footwear products. Will maintain strong cross-functional relationships and build matrix relationships outside of the immediate team. Will create and implement processes that simplify and accelerate the current and future design projects. Will share business and design expertise and best practices. Will lead and participate with design functional leadership and will influence and direct seasonal workload by assigning projects to design staff and outside contractors. Will ensure that key product creation process dates are met, design tools are effectively utilized, and cross-functional team works occurs. Will communicate the vision and brand direction to team and stakeholders. Will manage the presentation of design projects at all stages, including design reviews, customer and client interaction, and adoption of processes. Will bring innovation into the category through strategy and execution with the advanced concept group. Will have one to three direct subordinates. Will engage in ten percent or less domestic and international travel.
