This position is in the Recycling division of International Paper. We are one of the world's largest paper recyclers, handling more than 6 million tons of paper every year. We have recycling facilities throughout the United States. Recycled paper is used in our mills, with the balance sold domestically and worldwide.
The Region Finance Generalist is responsible for finance duties within the West Region; working with the other Region Generalists, and under the supervision of the West Region Controller. The finance duties include: month-end close duties, reconciliations, compiling profit and loss statements, inventory and material usage reports, analytics, and other assigned tasks. The Generalist will be a key point of contact for plant finance specialists in regards to accounting policies and procedures, system processes and issues, and key control activities, among other related responsibilities. The Generalist will also serve as the backup for the Plant Finance Specialists.
The West Region Generalist works directly with the plants and brokerage businesses within the region. The eight plants and brokerage areas are located in: Kent, WA; Beaverton, OR; Eugene, OR; Salt Lake City, UT; Phoenix, AZ; West Sacramento, CA; Fremont, CA; Norwalk, CA. Total annual revenue in the West Region is approximately $61 million.

Month-end close: prepare accruals, prepare reconciliations, prepare profit and loss statements, inventory and material usage reports
Financial system lead within the region (ERP and SAP): understand the inner-workings of the financial systems and how they transfer information
Assist with AR invoice adjustments: correct supplier invoices as needed
Support Region and Plant Management with Financial and Operational Analysis: Gather information and prepare analyses
Support Region Controller with the month-end closing and reporting processes
Support Region Controller with financial evaluations of capital projects
Support efforts to ensure internal controls are in place for compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and guidelines
Provide backup support for Plant Finance Specialists in the West Region.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Accounting and Controls; GAAP
Budgeting and Analytics
Computer software proficiency in: Excel, Word, SAP
Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills.
Education and Experience:
4 year college degree (finance or accounting)
Three or more years of experience
Business experience involving general accounting activities, analytics, and budgeting preferred
- Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.
