Nike Expert Cloud Engineer in Beaverton, Oregon

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience

  • Extensive knowledge of public cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)

  • Background with China-based cloud providers (e.g. Alibaba, Tencent, AWS China, Azure China) a plus

  • Experience with private and hybrid cloud technologies (e.g. VMware, Tanzu, Anthos, Outposts)

  • Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Fargate, EKS, AKS, GKE) and solid knowledge of their use in cloud native applications

  • A passionate balance of strategic thinking and developer mindset

  • An ability to discern patterns, drive efficiencies, and lower total cost of ownership for technology processes and solutions

  • Thorough knowledge of software engineering and the software development lifecycle

  • Senior experience in automating end-to-end processes and guardrails

  • Extensive knowledge of cloud provider account management services (e.g. AWS Organizations, Azure Policy) and implementing enterprise policy across a diverse and dynamic business environment

  • Proficiency with common automation and programming languages such as Python, Java, PowerShell, Perl, Ruby, Go, or Rust

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure as code principles and experience in implementing this methodology – conceptually and using common tools (e.g. Terraform, Cloud Formation, Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

  • Senior knowledge of continuous improvement and deployment pipeline methodologies (CI/CD)

  • Demonstrated ability to drive policy, process, and procedural change across complex organizations

  • Understanding of operational processes (e.g. runbooks) and system administration

  • Senior experience scripting using Python, as well as Perl, PowerShell, JavaScript, or similar scripting languages

  • Understanding of Application Performance Management tools (e.g. SignalFX, NewRelic, DataDog)

  • Strong understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles

  • Self-starter with a desire to exceed customer expectations

  • Demonstrated track record of leading change using strong influence management skills

  • Ability to work cooperatively at all levels in a matrixed environment

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work in a distributed team across multiple time zones and a globally-distributed workforce

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON

As an Expert Cloud Engineer for the Cloud Center of Excellence team within the Multi-Cloud Engineering organization, you will lead the enhancement, simplification, and governance of NIKE’s public and private cloud ecosystem, driving strategy, developing clear & actionable policies, processes and procedures, and automating guardrails & API-based deployment platforms. You will enable a mature & secure public and private cloud landscape that will be the engine behind the acceleration of NIKE’s digital transformation.
