WorkSource Oregon High School Math Teacher in Baker City, Oregon
Baker School District is currently seeking a candidate for a Math teaching position at the Baker Middle School for the 2021-2022 school year. Courses taught may include Integrated Math through High School Algebra I. In addition, coaching opportunities are available throughout the year. REQUIREMENTS: * This position requires the candidate to hold, or be eligible to hold an Oregon Teaching License with the proper endorsement and requires subject area expertise commonly associated with middle level/secondary teaching and instruction. JOB DUTIES: * Teaches courses in mathematics to Middle School students, following the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content. * Utilizes an adopted course of study, instructional program guidelines, and other materials in planning and developing lesson plans and teaching outlines. * Utilizes a wide range of technology to enhance student engagement, asses the level of mathematical proficiency and model mathematical applications. * Pursues a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations, discussions and laboratory experiences. * Reviews, analyzes and evaluates the history, background, and assessment of students in designing instructional programs to meet individual educational needs. * Individualizes and adapts educational processes and procedures to enhance student educational opportunities. * Provides group and individual instruction to motivate students, and effectively utilizes the time available for instructional activities. * Maintains appropriate standards of student behavior, using behavioral management strategies and techniques, including positive reinforcement and behavior shaping procedures. * Prepares, administers, scores, records, and reports the results of criterion referenced tests, and administers, scores, records, and reports the results of group standardized tests in evaluating student growth and progress. * Counsels, confers with and communicates with parents, school, and District personnel regarding student progress, and in the interpretation of the educational program. * Motivate and inspire students to increase individual math skills to reach High School benchmarks and Oregon graduation requirements. * Develop/track individual math specific student learning plans, and provide specific instruction/practice for students of differing levels. * Work collaboratively with colleagues. * Perform other duties as assigned. HOURS: * Currently, teacher contracts are approximately 1547 hours with a four-day work week. Certified staff report for one Friday per month for meetings and PD activities.
