Job Description

The Oregon plant of W. R. Grace & Co. manufactures fine chemicals for a broad range of pharma, biotech and nutraceutical customers. We are currently seeking a Plant Engineering Maintenance Reliability Manager to enhance our growing and dynamic team. This position will be responsible for directing, scheduling and controlling all plant engineering/maintenance functions in order to obtain optimum efficiencies from the equipment, utilities and overall facilities. This position is part of the site leadership team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for project engineering design and project implementation of capital and maintenance projects, providing hands on support to engineers and contractors

  • Supervise a staff of maintenance and engineering professionals and set priorities based on safety, production and quality needs

  • Ensure preventative maintenance is performed in accordance with PSM (OSHA process safety management) requirements and GMP (FDA good manufacturing practices) requirements

  • Manage the site’s capital budget and capital spending

  • Manage the implementation of plant automation changes

  • Provide engineering guidance and expertise for equipment/processing system modifications and/or equipment replacement to improve overall mechanical reliability

  • Manage the staff's activity relating to troubleshooting, repairs and facility improvements

  • Remains up-to-date on technology as it pertains to the plant’s operation

  • Maintains effective communications with the appropriate people both within and outside of the plant

  • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance and engineering activities are conducted in compliance with EHSS regulations

Required Skills

  • Must be skilled in troubleshooting mechanical equipment and systems used in the chemical processing industry

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Must be fluent in Microsoft Office applications

  • Must have basic knowledge of chemical process controllers

Required Experience

  • BS in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering

  • 5 to 10 years of related experience in the chemical industry dealing with: Capital projects, preventative maintenance, establishing and operating to a budget, EPA and OSHA/PSM requirements

  • A minimum 2-5 years experience supervising a maintenance workforce

  • A proven track record with developing teams, coaching & mentoring others, and increasing employee skill levels

  • Solid understanding of OSHA and EPA regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with FDA/GMP a strong plus
