Mennonite Village Certified Medication Aide - PT Days & Evenings/ On Call- All shifts in Albany, Oregon
Mennonite Village is a premiere not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community in Oregon's beautiful Mid-Willamette Valley. We are now accepting applications for Certified Medication Aides .
Distributes medication to residents consistent with accepted nursing standards.
Cleans and restocks medication cart routinely; removes outdated and discontinued medication; no non-medication items are to be stored or placed on cart.
Assists nursing staff in routine care of residents as required.
Practices the CMA five R’s consistently to ensure excellent care: right resident, right prescription, right time, right route, right dose.
Reports observations and pertinent information to the licensed supervisor – such as unusual symptoms, changes, accidents, injuries, etc.
Use and model safety measures for residents and self, with assistance, as needed, according to the safe handling policy by using gait belts, proper body mechanics, Hoyer lift, etc. as ordered.
Ability to safely operate a Hoyer lift, as needed, in accordance with the safe handling (zero lift) policy and procedure.
Provides accurate documentation in the Medication Administration Record.
Practices standard precautions with every resident. Practices additional precautions per direction of charge nurse.
Protects and promotes residents’ rights as identified in the “Mennonite Home Residents’ Rights.”
Performs duties of CNA as needed.
Demonstrates to peers the correct methods and model behavior needed to address client care needs on an individualized basis.
Abides by the standards and procedures of the Mennonite Village Compliance and Privacy Program and Values and Expectations Statement.
Regular attendance and punctuality is an essential function of the job.
Abides by the HIPAA policies and reports to a supervisor, breaches (or violations) of our HIPAA policies.
Immediately reports identified hazards or hazardous conditions to a supervisor.
Immediately reports adverse events and near misses to a supervisor.
Attends mandatory training on HIPPA and compliance annually.

Must be a certified CMA in the State of Oregon.
Ability to describe the Resident Centered Model of care after appropriate teaching, and be willing to execute this model in the Mennonite Home.
Ability to be flexible, patient, creative, willing to learn and be motivated to enhance the lives of residents residing in the Mennonite Home.
Demonstrated understanding of the basic principles of pharmacology. Understands how drugs interact with the human body (pharmacodynamics).
Ability to work with and communicate effectively with the elderly.
Capable of transferring residents, with assistance, according to care plan, or as necessary.
Ability to safely move frequently during work day, including carrying, lifting, standing, sitting, bending reaching, and kneeling.
Ability to push and/or pull medication cart and other equipment.
Visual and auditory acuity within normal limits.
Ability to work under time pressure and stress.
Must be flexible and responsive to change on short notice.
Sufficient English and Language skills to follow instruction from staff. Must be able to understand and respond properly to resident’s needs.
Ability to accurately document activities of daily living.
Basic computer knowledge.

Must be a certified CMA in the state of Oregon and possess the ability to work with and communicate effectively with the elderly.
